Kris Birr

Kris brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role as the Defined Benefit Plan Support Operations Manager at EGPS, ensuring that the complex world of defined benefit plans runs smoothly for all involved. Her career in retirement planning kickstarted in May 2015 when she joined Summit Benefit and Actuarial Services. There, she honed her skills as a Retirement Plan Consultant Assistant until August 2021. Following the merger with EGPS, Kris embraced her role as a Retirement Plan Consultant before stepping into her current position as Operations Manager of the DB Support Group in December 2022. She obtained a BA in English from the University of Oregon, as well as her Retirement Plan Fundamentals (RPF) certification from ASPPA, showcasing her commitment to continuous learning and development in her field.

At EGPS, Kris is a “Jane of all trades” in Defined Benefits, specializing in Schedule SBs and 5500s, PBGC Premium Filings, compliance, annual valuations, cash balance distributions, and trust accounting. Her passion is evident as she engages in training team members on DB forms, consulting clients about DOL regulations, and ensuring the intricate details of defined benefit plans are managed with expert care.

Outside the office, Kris is a proud wife and mother to two boys and an avid marathon runner. With an impressive 30 official half marathons under her belt, she’s on a quest to qualify for the Boston Marathon — a goal that reflects her determination and resilience, both personally and professionally.
